On June 29, 2021, the Supreme Court ruled that it was unconstitutional for the NCAA to prevent athletes from making money off their name, image, and likeness. Since then, it has been possible for the student-athletes to pursue NIL opportunities.

As of right now, there are not many. New York state recently has proposed a bill waiting to be passed that outlines the guidelines all athletes must follow when pursuing NIL opportunities.
